Panya Indra Golf Club

The 27-hole Panya Indra Golf Club designed by Ronald Fream & David Dale of the USA opened in 1991. The golf course is just off the Outer Ring Road, which makes for short travel times from Bangkok city center and is usually reachable in 30 minutes or less from most hotels. Panya Indra Golf Club comprises three separate 9-hole championship courses, each with a distinctive design and unique setting. The courses aptly named are the Lagoon Course, Palm Course, and Garden Course. The golf course has been extensively landscaped with colorful flowering plants, shrubs, and bushes to provide beautiful backdrops to most of the holes. Fairways are palm tree-lined, and lakes and ponds come into play on almost every hole at Panya Indra. The deep bunkers have sculptured, and the smooth flowing lines of fairways give the course a natural feel in a city environment. Whether playing the Lagoon Course (A), Palm Course (B), or Garden Course (C) testing holes wait. There is more water to negotiate on the Lagoon, although the Palm and Garden nines do not lag too far behind. Panya Indra offers several unusual design features, in particular, undulating fairways. The par-3 holes are perhaps the most challenging aspect of this course as they practically all play over water. The Palm Course boasts an excellent island green par-3, its 4th hole. There are also some challenging dog-leg holes on each of the three nines as well. The Palm (B) and Garden (C) Courses are floodlit for night golf. Carts are optional, but advisable due to significant mounding within and between holes. Pretty caddis available at extra cost is unique to Panya Indra. It takes some getting used to, but some golfers like the other caddie concept. The clubhouse facilities, locker rooms, and restaurants are of okay standard.
